Samuel Eto’o Returns to Training Ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League Clash with Atlético Madrid
Chelsea could be boosted by the return of striker Samuel Eto’o for their crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Atlético Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The Cameroonian forward, who missed last week’s first leg in Madrid and the Premier League encounter with Liverpool on Sunday, was back in training on Tuesday. His return could offer manager José Mourinho an experienced attacking option in a tie that remains finely poised after a 0-0 draw in the Spanish capital.
Chelsea also welcomed back several other key players during the session. Belgian winger Eden Hazard, goalkeeper Petr Čech, and captain John Terry — all recently sidelined — participated in training, raising hopes of their availability for Wednesday’s match.
The club confirmed the positive injury updates on its official website and social media, sharing images of the players heading out for the session. One tweet from Chelsea’s official account read: “. @hazardeden10 and @setoo9 heading out to training… #CFC,” alongside a photo of the two stars.
With a place in the Champions League final at stake, Mourinho now faces some welcome selection dilemmas as his squad regains strength at the most critical stage of the season.
