Olympique Lyonnais is focused on securing a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1, which would give them a shot at European qualification. With only four matches remaining, Samuel Umtiti has expressed the team’s determination to achieve that goal.
“The goal is definitely fourth place. We’re capable of it. After that, it’s up to us to do what’s necessary. We have a very competitive squad. We’ve shown that this season. We’re not thinking too much about the preliminary round. But for us, it would be better to finish fourth,” Umtiti stated.
With Marseille and Saint-Étienne also in the mix, Lyon is primarily concerned with finishing fourth, ahead of their rivals. Umtiti is well aware of the importance of the upcoming match against Bastia, emphasizing the significance of every remaining fixture:
“We know Marseille is behind us, but we’re going there. The match will be very important for the end of the season, for 4th and 5th place. It’s not going to be easy. We can’t give up. The remaining matches are against teams that may have nothing to play for and will be relaxed. It will be up to us to do what is necessary.”
Lyon will be looking to capitalize on these crucial fixtures to ensure a European spot for next season.
