English forward Jamie Gittens has reportedly informed his Borussia Dortmund teammates of his intention to leave the club at the end of the season.
Once considered one of Dortmund’s brightest young talents, Gittens impressed with standout performances earlier in the campaign.
However, his playing time has significantly decreased since the arrival of head coach Niko Kovac.
According to consistent reports from German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten, Jamie Gittens has made it clear to those around him that his time at the club is coming to an end.
In the dressing room, the 20-year-old is said to have made comments like, “I’ll be leaving soon anyway” and “I’m definitely not playing here next year.” His camp has also officially communicated his intention to leave to Dortmund’s management.
Talks have reportedly already begun between Gittens’ representatives and Chelsea. However, Arsenal are believed to be leading the race for his signature.
Despite his recent dip in form, Jamie Gittens can be proud of his performance this season. He has scored eight goals and provided three assists after making 30 appearances for Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.
