FC Barcelona Faces New Controversy as Spanish Police Seize Drug-Laced Chocolates with Club Logo

FC Barcelona’s troubles continue to mount as the club faces yet another blow to its reputation. After the ongoing Neymar scandal, disappointing results on the pitch, and issues involving Lionel Messi’s form and a dispute with FIFA over the recruitment of minors, the Catalan giants have now been dragged into a bizarre controversy.

On Wednesday, Spanish police arrested nine individuals involved in the manufacturing and distribution of chocolates shaped like the FC Barcelona logo. The sweets, which contained marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms, were being sold in markets in Alicante and Valencia. The police operation uncovered a drug preparation laboratory in one of the suspects’ apartments, where authorities seized 960 grams of speed, 500 grams of cocaine, and 300 grams of the illicit chocolates, along with €20,000 in cash.

While FC Barcelona itself has no direct connection to the scandal, the club’s image has once again taken a hit. The incident adds to a growing list of controversies surrounding the club, further complicating its current crisis. With the team struggling on the field and facing multiple off-field challenges, this latest issue will undoubtedly make life even more difficult for president Josep Bartomeu and the club’s leadership.
