Moroccan international footballer Sofiane Alloudi, former striker for the national team, shared his views on the final squad revealed by Walid Regragui, the coach of the “Atlas Lions,” for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, set to be hosted by Ivory Coast early next year.
In an exclusive statement to “Hesport,” Alloudi stated, “I respect the decisions of Walid Regragui because he is the coach and the one who knows the secrets of the national team best.
The list he selected is largely logical.”
The seasoned speaker added, “What I liked in the national team’s list is the average age of approximately six players being Olympic-aged, making them an asset for the ‘Atlas Lions’ in the AFCON and the next Olympic Games due to the experience they will gain.”
Continuing his discussion, the scorer of the historic hat-trick against Namibia in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations said, “All the names present possess both technical and physical capabilities to make a valuable contribution.
I agree with Regragui that it is challenging to call up some championship players due to the significant hiatus in competition.”
He concluded, “With the Moroccans present, we must now all rally behind the national Moroccan team, and hopefully, we have the technical capabilities to go far in this African football festival.”
The following is the final list for the Moroccan national team:
Goalkeepers: Yassine Bounou, Monir El Mohammadi, Mehdi Benabid.
Defenders: Achraf Hakimi, Nacer Mazraoui, Yahya Attia Allah, Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saiss, Younes Abdelhamid, Shady Riyadh, Abdelkabir Abqar, Mohamed El Shebby.
Midfielders: Amine Richardson, Sofiane Amrabat, Osama Al Azouzi, Slim Amlach, Bilal El Khnous, Az-Ed-Din Onahi, Ismail Al Sebari, Amin Harit.
Forwards: Hakim Ziyech, Amin Adli, Abdusamad Al Zalzali, Sofiane Boufal, Tarik Tissoudali, Youssef El Nasiri, Ayoub El Kaabi.
The national team will soon enter a closed preparatory camp at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamoura, near Salé, before heading to Ivory Coast to participate in this continental football event, absent from Moroccan shelves since 1976.
