Serge Nyuiadzi Strikes Again as Zalgiris Dominate in Lithuanian League
Serge Nyuiadzi appears to have rediscovered his scoring touch. After netting the decisive goal in the first leg of the Lithuanian Cup semi-final midweek, the Zalgiris Vilnius forward continued his fine form on Saturday by finding the net once again in the league.
In what proved to be a routine outing for the reigning champions, Zalgiris cruised to an emphatic 8-0 victory over bottom side Dainava. Nyuiadzi, who started on the bench, was introduced in the second half and added his name to the scoresheet, bringing his season tally to four goals in just seven appearances.
The result solidifies Zalgiris’ position at the top of the A Lyga table, with 17 points earned from five wins and two draws. Their attacking display highlighted the gulf in class between the two sides, with the home fans treated to a dominant performance.
Nyuiadzi, who came through the youth ranks at French side OGC Nice, is quickly emerging as a key figure for Zalgiris. His consistent goal-scoring is likely to attract further attention from the national team setup, as he edges closer to a potential call-up for the Togo national team — a dream he has made no secret of.
