Riyad Mahrez played a key role in leading his team to the AFC Champions League final, showing calm confidence after a convincing 3-1 victory over Al Hilal in Tuesday’s semi-final clash.
The Algerian winger, who set up the second goal for Ivan Toney in the 27th minute, believes his side has what it takes to go all the way.
“It was a difficult game, we put in a lot of effort against a great opponent, and we played well, which gave us the victory and qualification for the final,” Mahrez said post-match.
The experienced playmaker praised his teammates, staff, and supporters, but stressed the importance of staying focused.
“We shouldn’t celebrate too much because we haven’t won the title, we have to focus on the final, and I thank the players, the fans and everyone who contributed to us reaching this stage.”
Mahrez believes his team is peaking at the right moment and is ready for whatever challenge comes next.
“It doesn’t matter who we face in the final… the most important thing is to focus on coming out with a good result and looking great.”
