Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul has made a long-awaited return to Al Ahly’s squad, earning a spot under new acting head coach Emad El Nahhas.
This marks Maaloul’s first inclusion in the Egyptian Premier League lineup this season, as he had previously been left out during Marcel Koller’s tenure following a lengthy injury spell.
The veteran defender is set to be part of the team facing Petrojet on Wednesday night in the third round of the league’s final stage. His return adds experience and depth to a squad undergoing transition after a disappointing Champions League exit.
El Nahas, stepping in after Koller’s departure, selected a strong group for his debut match. The list features Mohamed El Shenawy, Mustafa Shoubair, Hamza Alaa, Rami Rabia, Omar Kamal Abdel Wahid, Yasser Ibrahim, Ashraf Dary, Mohamed Hani, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Marwan Attia, Imam Ashour, Ahmed Reda, Amr El Souliya, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Karim Nedved, Hussein El Shahat, Taher Mohamed Taher, Ashraf Ben Chergui, Wissam Abu Ali, and Genik Gradishar.
Al Ahly expressed gratitude to Koller and his staff before turning the page with El Nahhas at the helm.
