Lamine Yamal declares Real Madrid ‘can’t beat Barca this year’ after Copa del Rey triumph

Barcelona secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, with 17-year-old Lamine Yamal playing a key role in the win.

The match, which stretched into extra time, saw Yamal provide two vital assists, one for Pedri and another for Ferran Torres, helping Barcelona overcome their fierce rivals.

His performance throughout the game stood out as he showcased his immense potential and composure under pressure.

After the final whistle, Yamal confidently declared: “This year, they simply can’t beat us. We’ve proven that. I’m really happy. Visca Barca!”

Born in Esplugues de Llobregat, Spain, Yamal is of Moroccan and Equatoguinean heritage.

His meteoric rise through Barcelona’s youth ranks has been nothing short of extraordinary, and his display in the Copa del Rey final further solidified his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in European football.

Despite the tough challenge from Real Madrid, Barcelona showed resilience.

Hansi Flick’s side took the lead through Pedri but Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni combined to give Real a 2-1 lead with six minutes to go, before Ferran Torres equalised to force extra time.

Jules Kounde then netted a 116th-minute winner, and Real had three players sent off after full-time.
