Munir Mohamedi heroics keeps RS Berkane dream alive in CAF Confederation Cup run

Munir Mohamedi has quietly become RS Berkane’s most important signing in recent memory.

The veteran goalkeeper stood tall once again as Berkane crushed CS Constantine 4-0 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final. His leadership and calm presence at the back have been central to the Moroccan side’s push for continental glory.

Since joining from Al Wahda last summer, Mohamedi has been almost unbeatable. He’s let in just one goal in 11 Confederation Cup matches this season, against Stellenbosch spanning from the second round through to the quarter-finals. That record held firm again in the semi-final opener.

Domestically, Berkane have also built the league’s tightest defence, conceding only 12 goals in 26 matches. In the Throne Cup, they haven’t conceded a single goal. Much of this solidity stems from Mohamedi’s experience, he’s featured in two World Cups and four Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco.

With his contract now extended for another season, Berkane have secured not just a keeper, but a proven leader who could help guide them to Confederation Cup glory.
