Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller has sent a strong warning to his players after their goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in their CAF Champions League semifinals first leg
The two sides clashed at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium over the weekend.
The Egyptian side had two goals disallowed for offside in the second, and Koller has told his players must stay highly focused for the second leg.
“We didn’t allow the opponent to control the game. We are fully aware that this match represents only half of the current stage,” Koller said, as per the club’s website.
“There’s still another half to be played in Cairo, and we must stay highly focused in the second leg to reach the final.”
“Possession is not important if it doesn’t lead to any benefit. Al Ahly created several chances — one of them hit the crossbar — and we were more dangerous overall.
“We succeeded in playing with great organisation,” he added.
Al Ahly, who are the defending champions will host the South African giants at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday, April 25, with kick-off scheduled at 16:00 GMT.
