We are way better than Lyon – Cameroon and Manchester United Keeper Andre Onana ahead of Europa League clash
Cameroon international Andre Onana claims his outfit are way better than Olympique Lyon ahead of their Europa League quarterfinal clash.
Manchester United travels to face Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League on Thursday before hosting the French outfit in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford next week.
The Red Devils, who has been inconsistent in the Premier League, are considered as one of the favourites to win the Europa League this season, the only to secure European qualification.
Lyon, however, are in the running for European qualification next season, regardless of their fate in the Europa League this season. Paulo Fonseca’s side are currently fifth and just one point off the Champions League qualification places.
“It’s a very good team. We know some of them but I don’t think we have to focus on them. It’s more about us, what we’re going to do […] of course, it’s not going to be easy, but I think we are way better than them. We all know the importance of this game, we will go there with the winning mentality,” said André Onana in the build-up to the match.
Meanwhile, Andre Onana has been heavily criticized for his performance for the Red Devils this season. He has managed 42 appearances for the club this season, conceding 54 goals and keeing 10 clean sheets.
