Ahmed Hossam Mido, a key figure on Zamalek’s planning committee, revealed that the club is taking its fight to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following the Clubs Association’s softened sanctions against Al Ahly.

The decision comes after Zamalek’s board outright rejected the association’s move to tweak penalties tied to the Egyptian Premier League title chase.

Al Ahly had pushed for foreign referees in a crucial match and boycotted the Cairo Stadium clash, prompting initial league sanctions. While the association upheld a 3-0 forfeit loss to Zamalek and financial fines, it scrapped a further three-point deduction from Al Ahly’s season tally a reversal Zamalek refuses to accept.

The club’s leadership vowed to uphold the league’s rules for its fans and itself, no matter the cost. On Twitter, Mido declared, “We have decided to escalate and file a case with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and Pyramids FC stands in solidarity with us.”

He predicted a restored points deduction and a shake-up in leadership, slamming the state of Egyptian football.
