France-Cameroonian attacker Kylian Mbappe opens up on Real Madrid dream

French star Kylian Mbappe has shared his thoughts on life at Real Madrid after joining the side from PSG.

The French international with Cameroonian heritage completed his long-standing dream move to the La Liga side in 2024.

Speaking to Spanish television network La Sexta’s El Objetivo, Mbappe spoke candidly about his journey to the Bernabeu and his ambitions with Los Blancos.

“All I wanted was to wear the Real Madrid shirt at the Bernabeu, hear the fans sing my name, score goals, and be happy,” he said.

Reflecting on his early inspiration, Mbappe recalled how he became a fan of Zinedine Zidane during the Galacticos era, calling Madrid “the best club in the world”.

He highlighted the club’s unique prestige, adding: “This club has an honour that others don’t. My dream became a goal, and now I can say it’s a reality.”

Mbappe also paid tribute to his parents, acknowledging their role in shaping his career. “I know my mother and father have done a lot for me. They have both been hugely important in my journey,” he continued.

The forward also emphasised his grounded nature, describing himself as “a normal man” who experiences emotions like anyone else. “I think people can see that I’m happy at Madrid—very happy,” he added.

Looking ahead, the 26-year-old made his ambitions clear, stating his desire to win every possible trophy with Madrid, from La Liga to the Champions League.

Despite not being Spanish, he expressed gratitude for the warmth he has received from the club’s supporters.

“I’m French, not Spanish, but the fans always make me feel their affection,” he said.
