Uncertainty surrounds Cameroonian Yvan Neyou’s fitness ahead of La Liga return

CD Leganés faces uncertainty over the fitness of Cameroonian midfielder Yvan Neyou, who suffered an injury during the club’s recent match against Real Betis.

Despite traveling to join his national team, he did not feature in Cameroon’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers, leaving doubts about his availability for Leganés’ upcoming La Liga fixture.

Neyou was forced off the pitch in the second half against Betis due to muscle discomfort. Although he was eager to continue, the club’s medical staff opted for caution and substituted him.

His subsequent trip to join the Cameroon national team raised questions over the severity of his injury, but he did not take part in either of the team’s World Cup qualifying matches and instead trained individually.

Medical tests were conducted while Neyou was with the national team, but the results have not been disclosed.

His limited involvement in training further fuels speculation about his condition as Leganés prepares for a crucial stretch in their league campaign.

Possible Return Against Real Madrid?

Reports surrounding Neyou’s injury remain conflicting. While some sources have suggested a potential muscle tear, others indicate it may be minor discomfort.

Given that he has resumed light training with Cameroon, the latter appears more plausible. His condition will be closely monitored upon his return to Leganés, where final training sessions will determine his availability for the team’s La Liga match against Real Madrid.

The coaching staff will assess whether he can be included in the squad for Matchday 29, but a cautious approach is expected to avoid aggravating his condition.

His absence would be a setback for Leganés, as he plays a crucial role in midfield. If he is ruled out, the club may need to adjust its tactical setup to compensate for his potential unavailability.

Leganés will be hoping for a positive update as they await Neyou’s medical evaluation, with a final decision expected in the coming days.
