2026 World Cup qualifiers: Uganda head coach Paul Put insists his team deserved narrow win against Guinea

The head coach of Uganda Cranes, Paul Put has expressed his satisfaction to his team’s win against Guinea in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to him, the 1-0 victory on Tuesday, March 25, was well-deserved.

“We deserved to win, we played well from the first minute and had many chances to score more goals in the first half. I am a proud of the team.

“We didn’t perform bad in Mozambique but the situations like the simple goals we conceded and red card cost us generally we didn’t have a bad game especially when we were reduced to ten men. The boys knew what this match meant and I am happy they put up a fight and got the positive results,” Coach Paul Put told FUFA official website.

Following the win against Guinea, Uganda now has three wins in the qualifiers for the world cup.

The Cranes are third in the Group G standings with nine points after playing six matches.

They will have to fight for more wins in the remaining four matches to stand a chance of qualifying for the World Cup in 2026.
