
Ghana captain Andre Ayew stands the chance be the only player to score in seven editions of the Africa Cup of Nations in history.
Four players namely; Kalusha Bwalya, Samuel Eto’o, Asamoah Gyan and Andre Dede Ayew are all tied up on six ahead of the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
Ayew is the only active player currently amongst the above mentioned, standing a chance of scoring when he gets to feature for the Black Stars.
Ten goals scored so far at the African Nations Cup by the former Olympique Marseille, SwanseaCity, and West Ham player, one better than the legendary Asamoah Gyan.
Ayew and Gyan have featured for the Black Stars at various tournament, reaching the Africa Cup of Nations final on two occasions, in 2010 and 2015 respectively.
Zambia legend Bwalya is the only player to also score in six AFCON tournament during the eighties through to the nineties.
However, Cameroon legend and all-time top scorer of the tournament Eto’o wrote his name for Cameroon twice in succession in the African Cup of Nations.
The 34-year-old who recently signed for French Ligue 1 side Le Havre is expected to lead the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations next month.
