France-born Angola defender Castello Lukeba has emerged as a transfer target for Bayern Munich ahead of the summer transfer window.
The German giants are in the haunt for a new centre-back as they look to strengthen their defense for next season.
With a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah looking impossible, the Bavarian giants has reportedly turn their attention to Castello Lukeba, who has impressed for fellow Bundesliga club RB Leipzig this season.
The 22-year-old has made 22 appearances for Leipzig across competitions this season and has showcased glimpses of good performances for the club.
Lukeba has been influential for Leipzig this season, courting attention from several top clubs including Bayer Munich, who are poised to secure his services.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl is a huge admirer of the Angolan defender, having previously worked him at Leipzig. It was Max Eberl, who signed the defender to Lyon in the summer of 2023.
He is expected to play a huge role in their quest to lure the defender to the Allianz Arena.
However, Lukeba is currently too expensive, even for Bayern. It is reported that he has three release clauses: €90 million (if the transfer occurs in 2025), €80 million (2026), and €65 million (2027).
