France-born Cameroonian attacker Hugo Ekitike has opened up on playing for the France national team at the international level.

Ekitike, who has been in a rich vein of form for Frankfurt has yet to make an appearance for the Le Blues.

The 22-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe since joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain during the 2024 winter transfer window.

Since his arrival in Germany, Ekitike has racked up 18 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.

His outstanding performance has caught the attention of several clubs in Europe including Premier League giants Liverpool.

Recently, there have been calls for the inclusion of Ekitike in the France national team considering his performance this season.

And asked if he has done enough to merit an invite, the forward said, “It’s the coach who decides. I focus always on how to do more to one day get there.”

“We are perhaps the best nation in the world, places are expensive, and you have to earn it. I see it as the Holy Grail. The French team represents everything.” He added.
