Former Spain international David Villa has described Lamine Yamal as a once-in-a-generation talent.
The ex-Barcelona winger believes the Spanish teenager with Moroccan roots has incredible quality and a special talent.
“He’s a once-in-a-generation talent. It’s incredible, not only for what he shows on the field but also for his age and how long he’s been doing it. We’re witnessing a special talent,” David Villa said in a recent interview.
Lamine Yamal, 17, has been the standout player for Spain in the past year. He starred for La Roja at the last European championship, leading the country to clinch the trophy.
At Barcelona, he has become the main man for the team and has been tagged as the future of the club.
Speaking on the current Barcelona talent, Villa also singled out Polish legend Robert Lewandowski for praise.
“Lewandowski is a beast, you see it every day. He plays many matches, and he’s at a fantastic physical level. Let’s not look at his ID because his present is very good.” He also pointed out that Barcelona is always on the lookout for new talent: “There are many forwards, and any of them would want to play at Barcelona. I’m sure the club is doing a fantastic job to sign Lewandowski’s replacement when it’s needed,” he said.
