English international of Nigerian descent is a major doubt for Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League clash against Lille on Tuesday.
Chukwuemeka, who joined Dortmund on loan from Chelsea in the winter window, picked up a slight thigh injury in his outfit 2-0 away win over St. Pauli at the weekend.
However, Dortmund manager Niko Kovac will have to make a last-minute decision over the availability of the midfielder.
Dortmund plays host to the French Ligue 1 outfit before the reverse fixture in France next week.
“We will see how things develop before the match, we will only be able to make a decision shortly before the match,” Kovac said.
Chukwuemeka struggled at the beginning of the campaign at Chelsea before his loan move to Borussia Dortmund.
The 21-year-old didn’t make any Premier League appearances but played in five games in the UEFA Conference League and Carabao Cup.
However, since his move to Germany, the young midfielder has made three appearances in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.
With a few months left before the end of his loan move, Chukwuemeka would hope to keep impressing at Dortmund to revive his career.
