Algerian international, Nabil Bentaleb has indicated that he will always cherish his goal for Lille against Stade Rennais in the French Ligue 1.
After a long layoff due to a cardiac arrest in June 2024, the midfielder finally returned to action on Sunday.
Just four minutes after coming on, the player scored from close range to the delight of not just himself but the fans as well.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Nabil Bentaleb said he always knew he was going to score.
According to him, he will never forget the goal against Stade Rennais.
“It’s a special moment for me. I’m going from nothing at all. I didn’t know if I was going to be substituted in, but on the corner, I knew I was going to score.
“I told myself that I had to help the team. This is my first goal with Lille. It had to happen like this. It’s incredible. These are images that will remain engraved for life. There are things that are not forgotten,” Bentaleb said.
The Algerian midfielder is now keen on working hard to help Lille in the remaining matches in the 2024/25 football season.
