Cameroonian international Jérôme Ngom Mbekeli has officially signed with Chinese Super League side Meizhou Hakka, marking the next chapter of his career after leaving Europe.
The 26-year-old winger had been without a club for several weeks following his departure from Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol.
On Sunday, Meizhou Hakka confirmed his arrival, announcing that he will wear the number 8 jersey for the upcoming season.
After discussions with the player himself and his agreement, Cameroonian player Jérôme Ngom Mbekeli has joined Meizhou Hakka Football Club and will wear the number 8 jersey to represent Meizhou Hakka Football Club in the Chinese Super League and various competitions in the new season,” the club stated on its official Facebook page.
Ngom Mbekeli, who has earned eight caps for Cameroon and scored one international goal, was part of the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
However, he has not received a call-up to the national team since November 2023.
Meizhou Hakka, who finished 15th out of 16 teams in the Chinese Super League last season, will be looking to strengthen their squad as they aim for a better campaign.
Ngom Mbekeli’s arrival adds depth to their attacking options as he seeks to reignite his career in a new footballing environment.
