Esperance de Tunis secured the title of the Best African Club in the first edition of the Africa Top Sports Awards. The Tunisian club, ranked 61st globally, impressed football enthusiasts across the continent. Despite falling short in the final of the 2012 African Champions League against Egypt’s Al-Haly, Esperance de Tunis outperformed its competitors, AC Leopards de Dolisie (Confederation Cup winner) and ES Sétif (Algerian Champion), to claim the top spot. With 25 Tunisian championship victories and two African Champions League titles (1994, 2011), Esperance de Tunis is a formidable force in Tunisian football.
