Cheikh Sabaly is enjoying his best campaign yet with FC Metz, solidifying his status as a key figure in their Ligue 2 promotion bid.
The Senegalese forward reached a personal milestone last weekend, scoring his 10th goal of the season in Metz’s 3-1 victory over Clermont.
A career-defining year
The 25-year-old winger has demonstrated significant progress compared to his previous two seasons in Ligue 1, where he managed just six goals in 60 appearances.
This season, however, he has flourished under manager Stéphane Le Mignan, becoming a central piece in Metz’s attacking system.
Among Ligue 2’s elite
Sabaly currently ranks as the fourth most decisive player in Ligue 2 and is tied as the league’s second-highest scorer alongside compatriot Pape Meïssa Ba, who moved to Schalke in the winter transfer window.
He is just one goal behind Rodez striker Timothée Nkada, who leads the scoring charts with 11 goals.
As Metz aims for a return to the top tier, Sabaly’s form will be pivotal in their promotion push.
His growing influence and goal-scoring ability make him one of the standout performers in Ligue 2 this season.
