It seems that Nadir Lamyaghri, the Moroccan international goalkeeper, has decided to retire from international football following Morocco’s elimination from the CAN 2013 (African Cup of Nations 2013). Lamyaghri, who is 36 years old, was a key player in Rachid Taoussi’s selection.
The decision to retire internationally comes after Morocco’s elimination from the tournament, marking the second consecutive elimination for Lamyaghri and the team (the first being in 2012). Lamyaghri, having been part of the national team, expressed his belief that changes may be needed in Moroccan football following the recent disappointments.
Lamyaghri had a notable achievement with the Atlas Lions in 2004 when they reached the African Cup of Nations final and became vice-champions, losing to Tunisia in the final with a score of 2-1. His retirement signifies the end of his international career and may also reflect a broader sentiment within Moroccan football.
