Newly appointed Stade Rennais manager Habib Bèye has decided that young Senegalese defender Mikayil Ngor Faye will remain at the club despite speculation over his future.
Bèye, who officially took charge on Thursday, has wasted no time in making key decisions, including addressing the situation of the 20-year-old centre-back.
Faye, who joined from Barcelona last summer, has struggled for game time and was expected to leave during the winter transfer window.
However, according to Foot Mercato, the Senegalese coach has held talks with Faye and persuaded him to stay in Brittany.
Bèye believes the defender still has a role to play in the squad and is confident he can develop under his guidance.
Faye’s retention signals a potential fresh start for the youngster as Stade Rennais look to improve their season under new leadership.
