Franck Kessié has been declared fit to return for Al-Ahli’s upcoming Saudi Pro League match against Al-Fateh on Friday, after recovering from an injury that sidelined him for two games.
Manager Matthias Jaissle received a major boost ahead of the fixture, as the Ivorian midfielder has been cleared to resume full training.
Kessié, who missed Al-Ahli’s recent victories over Al-Orobah (2-0) in the league and Al-Sadd (3-1) in the AFC Champions League Elite, is expected to start in the crucial encounter on February 7.
Since joining Al-Ahli from Barcelona in the summer of 2023, Kessié has played an influential role in the team’s midfield.
The 27-year-old, who has earned 81 international caps for Ivory Coast and scored 11 goals, has featured in 57 matches across all competitions for the Saudi club, contributing 12 goals and eight assists.
Al-Ahli’s squad was given a rest day on February 4 following their return from Doha, with preparations for Friday’s match set to resume on Wednesday.
The only confirmed absentee for Jaissle’s squad is Alexsander, who remains sidelined with a broken hand.
As Al-Ahli aims to strengthen its position in the league standings, Jaissle will be hoping Kessié’s return can provide the necessary midfield stability against José Gomes’ Al-Fateh side.
