Senegal’s head coach, Aliou Cissé, who guided the team to its first Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 2022, has emphasized the dedication required to achieve success. Reflecting on the journey, Cissé said, “Winning the AFCON requires a lot of hard work, patience, and a bit of luck. Players must be at their peak and maintain a competitive mentality throughout.”
In an interview with CAF, Cissé praised the tournament’s progress, noting improvements in infrastructure, team preparation, and coaching standards. “The expansion from 16 to 24 teams has made the competition more competitive and globally visible.
