In a dramatic upset on the ninth matchday of the Egyptian Premier League, Modern Future FC secured a stunning 1-0 victory over Zamalek SC on Thursday evening at the Cairo International Stadium.

Zamalek, aiming to claim the league’s top spot, entered the match as heavy favorites but struggled to impose themselves against a resilient Modern Future FC side.

The hosts, still seeking their first win of the season, delivered a determined performance that left the White Knights frustrated.

After a goalless first half, the breakthrough came late in the game.

Cameroonian international Jonathan Ngwem capitalized on an opportunity in the 87th minute, slotting the ball past the Zamalek goalkeeper to give Modern Future FC a vital lead.

Despite Zamalek’s desperate attempts to respond, the match ended 1-0 in favor of the home side.

The victory marks Modern Future FC’s first of the season, lifting them to 17th place in the league with seven points.

Meanwhile, Zamalek’s defeat leaves them in third place with 17 points, missing a chance to climb to the top of the table.

In another match on the same evening, Petrojet defeated Al Masry 2-1, adding further intrigue to the league standings.

Thursday’s results:

  • Modern Future FC 1-0 Zamalek SC
  • Petrojet 2-1 Al Masry

Modern Future FC’s surprise triumph over Zamalek highlights the unpredictable nature of the Egyptian Premier League and signals a potential turning point for the struggling club.
