Borussia Dortmund considering signing Nigerian midfielder Carney Chukwuemekia from Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund are considering signing English-born Nigeria midfielder Carney Chukwuemekia from Chelsea in the ongoing January transfer window.

The Bundesliga giants are in the market for a solid and quality midfielder and has identified Chukwuemekia as the perfect player to strengthen their squad.

Dortmund endured a fluctuating results in the first half of the campaign and are poised to beef up their squad for the remainder of the season.

The former Bundesliga winners are considering a loan deal with an option to buy, with the player reportedly having a release clause worth between €40m and €45m.

Dortmund are sixth in the Bundesliga and are preparing to host Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Friday.

Chukwuemekia has not participated in a regular role with the Blues this season, as he has only participated in 5 matches this season, with only 116 minutes, through being present in 4 matches in the European Conference League and one match in the League Cup.

The 21-year-old current contract with Chelsea is expected to expire in the summer of 2028.
