Ivorian international, Seko Fofana has pledged to give his all to his new club Stade Rennais FC.
The highly-rated midfielder sealed his move to the French Ligue 1 outfit on Wednesday, January 1.
Speaking in his first interview, Seko Fofana said he is excited and looking forward to the new challenge and project presented by Stade Rennais FC.
“I am very happy to join Stade Rennais and start 2025 with this new challenge. I have always watched Stade Rennais closely, it is a club that I have often met, it counts in this championship. The discussions with Arnaud Pouille and Frederic Massara made the difference. They told me about the project and the expectations of the shareholders,” the Ivorian midfielder said.
He continued, “The message was strong and the decision was very simple afterwards. I am very excited to start, there are talented players at Rennes and I think the club is not in its place. We will see the chance to be able to play matches and demonstrate that the start of the season was below the club’s potential. I hope that we will be able to reverse the trend very quickly.”
Fofana, a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations champion and former RC Lens captain brings vast experience and leadership to the Rennes squad.
Known for his commanding presence in midfield and technical versatility, his addition is seen as a statement of intent by the Bretons.
The move comes as Rennes looks to recover from an underwhelming start to the season under head coach Jorge Sampaoli.
