La Liga side, Real Sociedad, is reportedly prepared to offload Malian defender Hamari Traoré during the January transfer window, signalling an openness to offers from interested clubs.
The 32-year-old right-back, who joined Real Sociedad on a free transfer from Stade Rennais in the summer of 2023, will leave as a free agent when his current contract expires in June 2025.
However, club sources have revealed that Traoré is not seen as an essential part of manager Imanol Alguacil’s tactical plans, prompting the decision not to renew his contract.
According to sources, the Spanish club is ready to let Traoré depart at the end of the season without a transfer fee, with his departure largely attributed to his age and his diminished role within the squad.
Currently sidelined with an injury, Traoré is expected to begin seeking new opportunities once he recovers.
Traoré’s career has seen him make a notable impact on the international stage, with 59 caps and 3 goals for Mali. Despite his contributions, Real Sociedad’s decision highlights their focus on building a younger, more dynamic roster.
As the January transfer window approaches, Traoré’s availability could attract clubs in need of an experienced and steady presence in defense.
