Nigeria head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has expressed confidence in his team’s preparations as they gear up to face Ghana in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
For the second consecutive tournament, the two West African rivals will compete for a spot in CHAN, with the first leg set for Sunday, December 22, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The return leg will follow on Saturday, December 28, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Speaking to CAFOnline, Ogunmodede highlighted the team’s focused and passionate approach to preparations.
“Considering the critical nature of this upcoming two-legged tie against Ghana, we have been working diligently and passionately in our preparation,” he said.
“We are focused on honing our strengths, addressing weaknesses, and strategizing specific tactics tailored to face Ghana’s formidable team.
He praised the players’ dedication during training sessions, stating, “The players have shown great commitment and dedication during training sessions, and we’re confident we are well-equipped to face the challenge head-on.”
The match in Accra is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
Ghana secured their place in the last CHAN tournament two years ago by defeating Nigeria on penalties, although their campaign ended in the quarterfinals. This year’s CHAN will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
