Karim Adeyemi’s long-awaited return to the pitch was marred by a disappointing result as Borussia Dortmund could only manage a 1-1 draw against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday.
The game, part of the 14th Bundesliga matchday, saw BVB take the lead early in the second half with Giovanni Reyna’s goal in the 46th minute. However, Hoffenheim stunned Dortmund with a last-minute equalizer from Jacob Bruun Larsen.
After 2.5 months on the sidelines due to injury, the 22-year-old Adeyemi was eager to make an impact, but he was far from satisfied with his side’s performance.
“It was a difficult game today. We were only able to partially implement what we set out to do. I’m of course happy that I can play again. When it comes to the result, I’m even sadder. It was a very poor performance from us,” Adeyemi was quoted as saying by the ninetyplus.de
“That’s not how we imagine it when we play at home against Hoffenheim. There was just a little something missing today.”
Adeyemi will again get some playing time in Dortmund’s game against Wolfsburg on December 22nd.
