Stade de Reims goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf has confirmed his decision to represent Senegal at the international level, choosing to play for the Lions after years of involvement with France’s youth national teams.
The 25-year-old, who has been a key player for Reims in Ligue 1, shared his choice following his team’s 0-0 draw against AS Monaco on Saturday.
Diouf, a consistent performer for Reims over the past three seasons, made the announcement after a crucial performance against Monaco, where he played an instrumental role in securing the draw.
The goalkeeper’s solid displays in France’s top tier have made him one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in Ligue 1.
The Montreuil-sous-Bois native has a long history with the French national setup, having represented the country at various youth levels until 2019.
However, it seems Diouf has now firmly committed to representing Senegal, a decision he revealed after his latest match.
I met Pape Thiaw, we had spoken, he had told me that he wanted to select me,” Diouf said, referring to the newly appointed Senegalese national team coach.

Pape Thiaw, who was officially confirmed as Senegal’s head coach by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), could potentially call up Diouf for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in March 2024.
The goalkeeper expressed his readiness to join the national team, no matter what role he is given.

He (Pape Thiaw) just has to call me, he has my number, he knows me. We talked a little bit. It’s up to him,” Diouf stated.
With the national team set to compete in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Diouf’s inclusion would provide a significant boost to Senegal’s goalkeeping options.
His decision is a notable moment in his career, as he transitions from the French youth sides to potentially representing one of Africa’s top football nations on the world stage.
