Stade Brestois faces a major setback as right-back Kenny Lala is set to miss at least two crucial matches due to a thigh injury.
According to L’Équipe, the 33-year-old will not be available for Brest’s trip to Lille OSC this Saturday and could also be sidelined for their upcoming Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven on December 12.
With Lala out, Brest will likely rely on 19-year-old backup right-back Luck Zogbé for the Lille fixture. However, Zogbé is unavailable for European duty, leaving Brest to possibly call on versatile midfielder Edimilson Fernandes for the pivotal Champions League encounter.
Lala, who has been a key figure for Brest this season with 11 appearances, two goals, and one assist in Ligue 1, has also been making waves internationally. Born in France to Martiniquais and Malagasy parents, Lala was recently called up to represent the Madagascar national team in March 2024.
Brest will need to find a way to cope without Lala as they aim to secure crucial points in both domestic and European competitions.
