Ethiopia managed to hold Zambia, the reigning African champions, to a 1-1 draw in their match during the 29th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2013). Despite playing with a numerical disadvantage after their goalkeeper, Jamel Tassew, was sent off in the 35th minute, Ethiopia showcased resilience and determination. Zambia took the lead with a goal from Collins Mbesuma just before halftime. However, Ethiopia leveled the score in the 65th minute with a goal from Adane Girma. The Ethiopian goalkeeper, Zerihun Tadele, made key saves to deny Zambia further goals. The draw against the defending champions marked a commendable performance by Ethiopia in the tournament.
