Chancel Mbemba set for potential move from Marseille in january 2025

DRC Captain Chancel Mbemba Has Rejected A Ligue 1 Club

Chancel Mbemba’s time at Olympique de Marseille appears to be drawing to a close, with the Congolese defender potentially moving on as early as the 2025 winter transfer window. Sidelined by new head coach Roberto De Zerbi, Mbemba has found himself out of favor, prompting interest from a number of clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer period.

The 30-year-old centre-back, once a key figure in Marseille’s defense, has fallen out of the first-team plans under De Zerbi, which has opened the door for a potential exit.

As a result, several clubs have expressed interest in securing his services.

Among the frontrunners are Belgian sides Anderlecht and Club Bruges.

Anderlecht, where Mbemba previously enjoyed a successful spell from 2013 to 2015, is reportedly keen on bringing the defender back to the club.

His return to the Belgian side would provide a significant boost to their defensive line.

The player, affectionately nicknamed “demi-god” by Anderlecht supporters, is fondly remembered for his time at the club and could be viewed as a key reinforcement.

However, Anderlecht faces stiff competition from Club Bruges, another Belgian powerhouse that is also said to be keen on the Congolese international.

This has led to an intense battle between the two clubs for Mbemba’s signature.

In a recent interview with a Congolese media outlet, the player hinted at the possibility of a move, acknowledging the upcoming winter transfer window as a time to potentially seek a new challenge.

“I will see what the future holds,” Mbemba stated, suggesting that he remains open to the idea of leaving Marseille for a fresh start.

In addition to the Belgian sides, French and Saudi Arabian clubs are also reportedly keeping a close eye on Mbemba’s situation, with the player’s name likely to feature prominently in transfer rumors leading up to the window.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, Mbemba’s future at Marseille remains uncertain, but his experience and reputation make him an attractive prospect for several top clubs across Europe and beyond.
