Senegal concluded their AFCON 2025 qualifiers with a dominant 2-0 win over Burundi, cementing their unbeaten record in Group L. Habib Diarra delivered a standout performance, scoring both goals for the Lions of Teranga in a display of composure and precision.
Diarra opened the scoring in the 35th minute, finishing expertly after a sharp assist from Iliman Ndiaye.
Early in the second half, a tactical substitution saw Cheikh Sabaly replace Ndiaye, and within minutes, Sabaly set up Diarra for his second goal in the 51st minute.
Burundi sought to challenge Senegal’s defense but failed to find a breakthrough against the reigning African champions, who controlled the match with authority.
Senegal’s consistency and depth throughout the qualifiers have further established them as strong contenders for the AFCON title in Morocco.
The result leaves Senegal top of the group with five wins and a draw, showcasing their readiness for the upcoming tournament.
