Ghanaian midfielder Edmund Arko Mensah has completed a move to Finnish top-tier side IF Gnistan, signing a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2026. The 25-year-old joins the Finnish outfit as a free agent, having recently concluded his time with Georgian club Dinamo Batumi after his contract expired.
This move sees Arko Mensah return to the Finnish Veikkausliiga, where he previously spent a successful period with FC Honka.
After almost four years with the club, he made a move to Georgia in February 2024.
Now back in Finland, Arko Mensah is poised to make a significant impact, with his experience in the league positioning him to play an important role for IF Gnistan this season.
Arko Mensah’s football journey began in Ghana, where he gained attention for his impressive performances in the Ghana Premier League.
His standout performances with Legon Cities earned him a move to FC Honka in 2020, marking the beginning of his European adventure.
His time with Honka helped establish him as a promising midfielder in the Veikkausliiga, further raising his profile.
The midfielder’s international career also includes stints with Ghana’s youth teams.
He has represented the country at both the U17 and U23 levels, and he was part of the Ghana U23 squad at the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the team was eliminated in the group stages.
Despite this setback, Arko Mensah remains hopeful of earning a call-up to the senior national team, the Black Stars, as he continues to impress at the club level.
With his move to IF Gnistan, Arko Mensah looks forward to contributing his skills and experience in what promises to be an exciting chapter in his career.
Fans of the club will be eager to see how the Ghanaian midfielder adapts to his new surroundings and whether he can make a lasting impression in the Finnish top flight.
