The Nigerian football community is in mourning following the tragic death of Agbor Ekoi, the 27-year-old goalkeeper for El Kanemi Warriors. Ekoi passed away in a road accident on October 31, leaving behind a legacy as one of the Nigerian Premier League’s (NPFL) most respected goalkeepers.

Ekoi, a commanding presence on the field, recently joined the newly promoted El Kanemi Warriors after a stint with Sporting Lagos.

Known for his agility and reliability, he previously showcased his skills at several notable NPFL clubs, including Heartland FC, Abia Warriors, and Lobi Stars.

Over the years, his performances had earned him widespread respect across the league, with fans and teammates alike valuing his commitment and skill between the posts.

Since the announcement of his untimely passing, tributes have flooded in from all corners of the Nigerian football world.

Teammates, fans, and sports personalities have expressed their profound sadness and sent messages of support to his grieving family.

The El Kanemi Warriors club, in particular, is devastated, and officials described Ekoi’s passing as a “huge void” for both the team and Nigerian football.

In a statement, the NPFL expressed solidarity with Ekoi’s family and club during this difficult time, calling his passing a tremendous loss
