Al-Ahly’s international stars rejoin training ahead of super cup clash in UAE
Al-Ahly’s international players resumed regular training on Thursday morning, ahead of the team’s departure to the United Arab Emirates for the upcoming Egyptian Super Cup.
The players returned to the club after completing their national team duties during the recent international break, which included qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Among those back in training are key players like goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mustafa Schubert, Rami Rabia, Marawan Attia, and Ahmed Nabil Koka.
They were joined by Palestinian international Wissam Abu Ali, who has also returned from his commitments with the national team.
The Egyptian national side, known as the Pharaohs, secured their spot in the 2025 AFCON after a crucial win over Mauritania, making the return of these players timely for Al-Ahly.
El-Shenawy Fit and Ready for the Super Cup
One of the main talking points for the club ahead of the Super Cup has been the fitness of star goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy.
Al-Ahly’s club doctor, Ahmed Gaballah, received a detailed report on El-Shenawy’s condition from Mohamed Abu El-Ela, the head of the Egyptian national team’s medical staff.
The assessment was necessary after El-Shenawy sustained an injury during Egypt’s recent qualifier against Mauritania.
The report clarified that El-Shenawy’s injury is minor, and he is expected to be fully fit for the upcoming Super Cup matches.
This comes as a significant boost for Al-Ahly, as they prepare to compete against other top Egyptian clubs, including Zamalek, Pyramids, and Ceramica Cleopatra, in the four-day tournament set to take place from October 20 to 24 in Abu Dhabi.
Final Preparations Before Departure
Thursday’s training session marked the last opportunity for the squad to train together on home soil before heading to the UAE.
The team will fly out later today, with the club delegation scheduled to arrive in Abu Dhabi well ahead of the competition’s opening matches.
This will allow the players to acclimatize and make any last-minute preparations.
Al-Ahly’s participation in the Super Cup promises to be a highly anticipated event, with fans eager to see how the team will perform following their recent international exploits.
The tournament will feature a round-robin format, giving teams multiple opportunities to vie for the coveted title.
The return of Al-Ahly’s international stars, particularly with El-Shenawy back in goal, sets the stage for what is expected to be a thrilling competition.
With high stakes and fierce rivalry, the Egyptian Super Cup is set to showcase the best of Egyptian football talent, and Al-Ahly will look to assert their dominance on the pitch against their formidable opponents.
