Arsenal are reportedly weighing up the possibility of selling Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu in the January transfer window, with Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck emerging as a potential replacement. The Gunners are said to be preparing a €25m bid for the Serie A star, according to reports from *Inter Live*.

Tomiyasu, once a key player for Mikel Arteta’s side, has struggled with recurring injuries, casting doubt on his long-term future at the club.

The Japan international’s fitness issues have forced Arsenal to consider alternative defensive options, with Bisseck now firmly on their radar.

Yann Bisseck, 23, signed for Inter Milan in 2023, initially arriving with little fanfare.

However, the young defender has since impressed at the San Siro, establishing himself as a reliable presence in the Nerazzurri’s backline. His performances have attracted attention from several top clubs, and Arsenal appear to be leading the chase for his signature.

Despite bolstering their defensive options with the summer arrival of Riccardo Calafiori and the return of Jurrien Timber, Arsenal’s interest in Bisseck is likely driven by Tomiyasu’s continued struggles with injuries.

The Japanese defender has been sidelined for extended periods, limiting his contribution to the squad and raising questions about his long-term viability as a reliable option for Arteta.

Mikel Arteta’s side currently have significant depth in defence, but the inconsistency in availability of players like Tomiyasu means that Arsenal are looking for a dependable backup option.

Bisseck, known for his strong defensive instincts and tactical awareness, could provide the stability the Gunners need in their backline.

The possibility of a January move, however, remains uncertain. Historically, major transfers in the winter window are less common, but the growing frustration with Tomiyasu’s fitness could accelerate Arsenal’s pursuit of Bisseck.

While Arsenal are still reportedly searching for a buyer for Tomiyasu, Inter Milan, once interested in the Japanese defender, no longer seem to be in the market for him.

As Arsenal eye Bisseck, the question remains whether a deal can be struck mid-season. Bisseck’s impressive form at Inter suggests he would not come cheap, with the Gunners prepared to table a significant offer in the region of €25m.

A successful move for the young defender could strengthen Arsenal’s squad as they push for silverware in the latter half of the season.

For Tomiyasu, it could mark the end of his Arsenal journey, as the club seeks to replace him with a more consistent and fit alternative.
