Wydad’s correspondence reveals no legal action against Football league, says lawyer Zwate
In a recent Facebook post, Zwate stated, “Regarding the Professional Football League’s response, the correspondence shows the minimal reaction of Wydad’s executive board (led by Baranaki at the time).
It reveals there was no ‘complaint’ or ‘legal procedure’ from Wydad. The correspondence clearly indicates that Wydad’s board only requested a ‘meeting’ with league officials to ‘inquire’.”
He continued, “It’s as if Wydad Athletic Club lacks legal experts to explain to the president and his board what happened and what is happening.
The correspondence apologizes for the delay in responding to Wydad’s request (they basically said ‘excuse us, we were busy’) and proposes a ‘friendly’ meeting to discuss the issue.
In other words, the correspondence frames the meeting as a friendly conversation over tea, after which the Professional Football League will continue to uphold the same standings.”
Zwate emphasized, “The executive board should have armed itself with legal expertise and approached the relevant dispute resolution bodies.
The board should have filed a complaint on the same day with the disciplinary committee.
Instead, they sought clarification from the league office, which has no connection to the disciplinary and dispute resolution bodies.
This is a disregard for Wydad’s interests, but unfortunately, it’s too late now.”
This candid assessment from Zwate highlights the perceived shortcomings in Wydad’s approach to addressing their grievances with the league standings, suggesting a need for more robust legal strategies in future disputes.
