Anges de Notsé emerged victorious in the national championship 2nd division football in Togo by defeating Gbikinti de Bassar at the Lomé Municipal Stadium this Sunday. The match, which ended 1-1 in regulation time, saw Anges de Notsé secure their victory in a penalty shootout with a score of 4-2. This triumph crowns the Notsè team, located 100 km from Lomé, as the champions of Togo at the conclusion of a year-long competition.
The goals in the match were both scored in the first half. Moussa Ahmed of Notsè’s angels orchestrated a well-executed play that led to De Souza Savant heading the ball into the net in the 28th minute, giving Notsè the lead. Gbikinti de Bassar swiftly responded, with Bassabi Arouna being fouled in the box in the 35th minute. Gbandi Gbanti successfully converted the penalty awarded by the referee, Djaoupé Kokou Claude.
Following the halftime break, both teams approached the game cautiously, with the better chances falling to the Angels of Notsé. However, despite their efforts, Eric Gagou’s team couldn’t find the back of the net for the remainder of the match.
With this victory, both Anges de Notsé and Gbikinti de Bassar will advance to the 1st division for the upcoming season. The championship, which commenced on January 8, 2012, featured 19 teams initially divided into two groups of 9 and 10.
