For its first outing in preparation for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), Nigeria faced the Catalonia national team on Wednesday. The Catalonia team consists of players from the Spanish region, including those from FC Barcelona and Espanyol.
In the match, Catalonia took the lead in the 4th minute with a penalty converted by Sergio Gonzalez after a handball in the area by a Nigerian defender. However, in the second half, the Super Eagles managed to level the score with a goal from Bright Dike, who plays for the Portland Timbers in the Major League Soccer (MLS).
