CAN 2013: THE LIST OF PACKAGES

The list of players who will not participate in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) has expanded. The following players will be absent:

  1. Ayanda Patosi (South Africa): The Lokeren midfielder is sidelined due to an ankle injury.
  2. Shola Ameobi (Nigeria): The Newcastle striker is unlikely to participate as his club is hesitant to release him.
  3. Jamel Saihi (Tunisia): The Montpellier midfielder underwent knee surgery, ruling him out of CAN 2013.
  4. Alain Traoré (Burkina Faso): The Burkina Faso player is unavailable for a month due to a major ankle sprain.
  5. Razak Boukari (Togo): The Wolverhampton player is dealing with a sore calf and consulted a specialist in France. He will be sidelined until at least March 2013.
  6. Guy Demel (Ivory Coast): The West Ham defender decided to step down from international duty to focus on his club commitments.
  7. Jordan Ayew (Ghana): The Marseille player was not among the 25 players pre-summoned by coach Kwesi Appiah.
  8. Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari (Ghana): Both players are not participating in CAN 2013.
  9. Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo): The Togo captain announced that he would not participate, but there is a possibility of a change of mind.

These absences represent notable developments for their respective national teams.
