Alain Traoré, the FC Lorient midfielder, was awarded the Gold Standard 2012, a recognition given to the best Burkinabé footballer of the year. The award was announced on Sunday, with Traoré receiving 38% of the votes. He surpassed his teammates Jonathan Pitroipa and Charles Kaboré in the voting.
Traoré’s performance, marked by scoring 5 goals, including impressive long-range shots, contributed to him winning the prestigious award. After a challenging half-season with Auxerre in 2011-2012, Traoré joined Lorient in the summer with the goal of showcasing his talent.
The “Golden Standard” trophy aims to motivate and acknowledge the efforts of players in the Burkinabè national team, as stated by its promoter, Idrissa Sondé.
