Egypt national team summons Salah, hints at El Shenawy's return

Ibrahim Hassan, the director of the Egypt national team, has announced the summoning of Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool FC, to join the Pharaohs’ camp in preparation for the upcoming confrontations against Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau on June 6th and 10th respectively in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Hassan stated via ON Time Sports channel that the technical staff led by Hossam Hassan has officially notified Liverpool of their desire to include Salah during the upcoming international agenda.

Salah was absent from the Pharaohs’ first camp under the leadership of Hossam Hassan at his own request, as he aimed to gradually return to matches following his injury in the recent Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.

The director of the Egypt national team clarified that Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany insists on performing surgery for Omar Marawan’s finger, affirming the coaching staff’s full confidence in the player’s ability to postpone the surgery.

He indicated that Mohamed El Shenawy, the goalkeeper of Al Ahly, is the best in Egypt, and it is natural for him to return to the national team after recovering from his injury.

He emphasized that Hossam Hassan’s statements regarding the absence of suitable players from the Egyptian League for the national team were misrepresented.

He explained, “Hossam said that the league has not produced new players with exceptional talents.”
